Al Gore Won't be Prosecuted in Sexual Assault Probe
Prosecutors in the US state of Oregon Friday concluded there are no
grounds for charging former vice president and Nobel Peace Prize winner
Al Gore with sexual assault.
Multnomah County District Attorney Michael Schrunk said in an e- mailed
statement that he concurs with the recommendation by investigators that
there be no criminal prosecution.

Death Toll Tops 400 in Pakistan flooding
The death toll in three days of flooding in Pakistan topped 400 Friday
as rains swelled rivers, inundated villages and triggered landslides,
officials said.
The toll was expected to increase because many people were reported

Snooki Arrested for Disorderly Conduct
"Jersey Shore" star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi has been arrested for
alleged disorderly conduct, police told TMZ Friday.
"She's still in custody," an officer in Seaside Heights, N.J., told
UsMagazine.com Friday afternoon.
MTV, which airs the popular reality show, said, "No comment" when
UsMagazine.com contacted the cable network about the 22-year-old's brush
with the law.

Deadly Wildfires Hit Russia
Deadly wildfires have killed more than 20 people in central Russia this
week, officials said Friday.
The fires come in a summer of unusual heat and drought, The New York
Times reported. In Moscow, the temperature reached 100 degrees Thursday,
making it the hottest day in the city since the first records 130 years
ago.
